Talc is a mineral and a hydrated magnesium silicate. Its rock is slippery in nature and very soft in nature. It has pearly luster. Talc has sheet like structure that impart some unique characteristics. When added in paint as filler its platy structure improve suspension of other solid mineral fillers and pigments. It also increases film coverage, brightness, smoothness and corrosion resistance power in paint. In plastic it’s smoothness will facilitate extruding process and its low hardiness will produce less abrasion on equipment than hard fillers. In paper it is used as a filler. It increases overall brightness, opacity and whiteness of paper. It also increases ink absorption property of paper.
